News Archive » Positive First Official FIA GT Test for CRS
March 14, 2008
CR Scuderia has just completed a two-day test at the high-speed Monza circuit
in Italy. The first day of the test was the traditional FIA GT Media Day but
once the photoshoots and interviews were done the team got down to business,
preparing for the new season.
One of the most important things for a new team to get right is the teamwork
itself and the top results at Monza show that the CRS team is gelling together
well. Both CR Scuderia Ferrari 430s were on the pace throughout the test, lapping
consistently at the top of the timesheets.
“It has gone brilliantly well here at Monza,” said CRS Team Principal
Chris Niarchos. “All the drivers have done a cracking job. We were fast
and all the tyre testing we did was good. As a starting point for the season
I couldn’t be happier.”
The CRS team was also delighted to hear that one of its FIA GT drivers, Rob
Bell, who is on duty at Sebring this weekend, has won the 2007 Dailysportscar
Award for European Driver of the Year. Rob was up against stiff competition
from the likes of Tom Kristensen, Pedro Lamy and Emmanuel Collard, but it was
his "telling blend of speed, control and the seeming inner calm" that
clinched it.
Dailysportscar’s UK Driver of the Year award went to Cobra-sponsored
Jonny Cocker for his fantastic performance in the 2007 British GT Championship.
The British GT Championship is next on the schedule for CRS and the team will
be at Oulton Park next week, ready to start the first season of racing.
