News Archive » FIA GT: Adria Preview October 9, 2006 This weekend the Scuderia Ecosse team travels to Italy for the penultimate round of the 2006 FIA GT Championship at the Adria Raceway, near Venice. After another win last time out for Nathan Kinch and Andrew Kirkaldy, followed by another podium finish for Chris Niarchos and Tim Mullen, the team is riding high and hoping for another great run of results. The Adria track is new to the FIA GT Championship and its configuration should provide quite a different GT race to the ones seen recently. The track is short but also narrow and twisty so the 20-minute qualifying session will see the entire field struggle to make space for a clear flying lap and the race itself will be a fight through traffic from very early on. There’s no reason to say we won’t get a good result at Adria,” said Team Principal, Stewart Roden. “The 430 is good at the high speed tracks but it is also incredibly nimble so I think we’ll be looking at another very closely fought race between the Ferraris. Our last race in Italy (Mugello) didn’t turn out the way we had planned it so I hope we have a bit more luck in Adria, and better weather too.” The Adria race is another two-day race weekend so the cars won’t get on track until 0935hrs on Saturday. Qualifying takes place on Saturday at 1730hrs and the three-hour race will be at the usual time of 1330hrs local time on Sunday. ENDS |
