September 20, 2006
Having only just returned from Italy, the Scuderia Ecosse team heads straight
to Silverstone this weekend for the next instalment of the 2006 British GT
Championship Challenge. It is possible that the single two-hour race on Silverstone’s
International Circuit turns out to be the title-decider, but will Nathan Kinch
and Andrew Kirkaldy be handing over their crowns to Chris Niarchos and Tim
Mullen or to the LNT Panoz drivers?
There are seven GT2 cars entered into Sunday’s race which means that
full points will be awarded at this round. After winning nine-out-of-eleven
races, Chris and Tim currently have a two-point gap over the LNT car. With
such a narrow lead it is imperative that the Ferrari finishes ahead of the
Panoz on Sunday.
Stewart Roden, Scuderia Ecosse Team Principal: “We’ve always gone
well at Silverstone and both Chris and Tim are quick there so it would be good
if we could go out there and tie up the Championship. Chris and Tim have won
over 80% of the races this year so we’d like to finish the job off properly.”
Qualifying takes place at 1530hrs on Saturday and the two-hour race will start
on Sunday at 1350hrs.
