News Archive » Tim Mullen Wins Britcar 24 Hours!!!
September 12, 2006
Tim Mullen took a fantastic victory in the Britcar 24 Hour race at Silverstone
last weekend. Tim was doing a spot of moonlighting from his day job, driving
a Scuderia Ecosse Ferrari 430 in the British and FIA GT Championships, by racing
the factory-supported Duller BMW Z4, alongside team-mates Jamie Campbell-Walter,
Dieter Quester and Dirk Werner.
The stunning Red Bull-liveried BMW was the class of the field at Silverstone
and a strong driver line-up took the car to victory in it’s first ever
race, helped by the squad of BMW personnel who came to look after their new
race car.
“The race was hard work but a lot of fun,” said Tim. “It’s
exciting to be part of a new project and, with this being such a new car, we
know there is a lot of development to come. It’s incredible that the
car did so well the first time out and it was good to be there on the top step
of the podium at the end.”
Tim is back on duty for Scuderia Ecosse this weekend at the Mugello Circuit,
near Florence in Italy, where he and Chris Niarchos will be looking to continue
their successful run.
It’s good to note that Tim also beat the Moore International BMW M3
into second place at Silverstone. Good because two of the drivers of that car
were the Owner and Commercial Director of Team LNT, the team that Tim and Chris
need to beat at Silverstone in a couple of week’s time to win the British
GT Championship!
