The Scuderia Ecosse team has now entered the busiest phase of the season, which means there are no more weekends off until well into July! Nathan Kinch and Andrew Kirkaldy have had a good weekend at Knockhill, demonstrating a 2003 Ferrari F1 car, a Ferrari FXX, the Ferrari 430 and the Championship-winning Ferrari 360. Chris Niarchos and Tim Mullen meanwhile have been preparing for next weekend’s British GT race at Donington Park.
Nathan Kinch smashed Knockhill’s lap record by posting a 41.5 second lap, with an average speed of 112mph, in the Ferrari F1 car. Both he and Andrew Kirkaldy then drove the fantastic Ferrari FXX, a car that has more power than grip, making it a handful to drive and a whole lot of fun!
Another highlight of the day was a race between Kinch, in the Ferrari 430, and Kirkaldy, in the 360. It was always going to be interesting to see how competitive the team-mates would be when pitted against one another in separate cars. Kinch won the race and later confessed to not using the speed limiter as much as he maybe should have during his pit-stop.
“He cheated! The weasel!” remarked Kirkaldy, when he discovered the tactics employed by Kinch to take the win.
“Its sour grapes”, responded Kinch. “He’s such a sore loser!”
With Motorfair complete, attention now turns to the next round of the British GT Championship at Donington in a few days time. Instead of the usual 2 x 1 hour race format the Donington event will be a single 2-hour race at 1300hrs on Sunday.
Kinch and Kirkaldy will be back on track in two weeks time for round two of the FIA GT Championship at Brno in the Czech Republic, in one car!
