News Archive » Mullen Drives New Car at Ferrari Test Track
Mar 25, 2006
Tim Mullen and his team-mate Chris Niarchos were in Italy earlier this week to test their brand new Ferrari 430 GT car at Fiorano, Ferrari's own private test track. The duo will race the car not only in the British GT Championship in 2006 but also in the fiercely-competitive FIA GT Championship.
This is Tim's fifth year of racing for Ferrari and he is excited by the prospect of racing the best that Ferrari has to offer.
"The 430 is a great step up from the Ferrari 360," said Tim. "Not through one particular area but through lots of small changes all over the car. Perhaps the biggest difference is the engine which has more torque now. We ran the 430 at Fiorano on Monday and it ran faultlessly straight out of the box which bodes well for the future. It was also good to see the Risi Ferrari 430 doing so well in the Sebring 12 Hours last week as it shows the car has what it takes against some tough competition."
Tim and Chris are the favourites to win this year's British GT Championship but, not content with one competition, they have also entered the FIA GT Championship, commonly recognised as the pinnacle of world sports car racing.
"Chris and I are really looking forward to doing the FIA GT Championship this year as well as the British GT Championship," commented Tim. "It will be great for Chris as he will be doing much driving this year and the more mileage he gets, the quicker he gets so I'm hoping for a great season. Our priority is the British Championship, it has to be, but we want to do the best job we can in FIA GTs and I think we will be right up there."
