Scuderia Ecosse will kick off its 2005 British GT title campaign this weekend with a two-hour race at Donington Park’s National Circuit, scene of the team’s first victory in 2004.

It is time for the talking to stop and the action to start as Nathan Kinch, Andrew Kirkaldy, Chris Niarchos and Tim Mullen take to the track in the team’s Ferrari 360 GTCs for the first race of what promises to be a very competitive British GT season.

Team Owner Stewart Roden commented: “We know the cars are fast and we have proven driver pairings so we are feeling optimistic but also aware that everyone else will have also raised their game. We’ve got an interesting season ahead of us what with the longer races joining the sprints and the addition of the race at Magny Cours. After this weekend we’ll know exactly how competitive we are but believe me when I say we’re not here to make up the numbers, we’re here to win!”

Young Scot Nathan Kinch is gunning for outright Championship victory in 2005. “From the results we got in 2004 and the recent work we did in testing we know we have a great package for this year. Andrew and I are a strong team and we’re both fired up to win again but this time we want the title! It’s good to get the penalty off our backs once and for all and compete on a level playing field.” Nathan’s team-mate Andrew Kirkaldy added, “The only way of judging competitiveness is to get out there and race but we’re quietly confident about our prospects for 2005. I’m looking forward to it!”

Also looking forward to the year ahead is Chris Niarchos who is about to enter his second season in British GTs. “I think Tim and I will be much more competitive in comparison to last year; firstly due to the improvement in equipment, and secondly due to our improved abilities. I feel that the team, which is also entering its second year in this series, will be stronger now and has given us even more confidence to win. We know how to win and have every intention of proving it!” As in 2004, Chris’ team-mate will be Tim Mullen who added, “It’s great to be driving with Chris again; there is a lot to be said for continuity and we want to keep the momentum going from last year. Our chances are good so let’s hope we can put our money where our mouths are!”

The on-track activity begins at Donington on Saturday 2 April with the morning free practice session.
