Rounds: 1&2
Dates: 3/4 April 2004
The all-new 2004 British GT Championship gets underway at Donington Park this weekend and the Scuderia Ecosse team is ready to go. The team is running a brand new Ferrari 360 GTC for Andrew Kirkaldy and Nathan Kinch; and a Ferrari 360 GT for Chris Niarchos and Tim Mullen. Both cars will race in the highly-competitive N-GT class.
Stewart Roden, Scuderia Ecosse Team Principal
“When we saw the new format for the British GT Championship we thought we could do well, the TV coverage looked good and overall it was a good package. Originally we were going to run one car then decided quite late in the day to run two but this won’t hinder us. We have the full endorsement of the Ferrari factory in Maranello and are here to make an impact. We want to win the British GT Championship and will be disappointed if we don’t.”

“We’ve been working hard and have done some good preparation for the new season. The car is fast and Nathan has been driving well too so we have a great package. Donington will be interesting as we’ll finally get to see how it all works out with the new time penalties. All in all though we should be competitive and I hope everything goes our way at the weekend.”
Nathan Kinch
“It’s hard to judge our level of competitiveness until we start racing. I do think the racing will be close but I’m not sure how the time penalties will pan out. From our point of view I think 25 seconds is too long but we’ll have to see what happens. We’ve had to work hard during the pre-season testing as this is the first N-GT car I’ve driven and it’s brand new so there’s lots for me and the team to get used to but it feels good. I’m really pleased to be driving for Stewart again and have every confidence in the team so I’m looking forward to a good season of racing.”
Car #34 – Ferrari 360 GT:
Tim Mullen
“It will be good to get back into a race environment this weekend. Testing is important but it’s the racing that matters. Chris is making good progress and has done a lot of the running in testing and I think we will make a good team. It’s impossible to say where we’re at though until the racing starts.”
Chris Niarchos
“We’ve got a lot of solid work done in testing in preparation for
the season ahead so we’re hoping for a great year. The car feels sorted
and there are more developments to come so we’re in pretty good shape.
We’ve spent a lot of time on the set-up variables so we have good data
to work from. I think our main rivals are going to be our team-mates, Andrew
and Nathan, the Porsche RSR and the TVRs.”
