News Archive » Tim Mullen Returns to Spa 24 Hours with Lapidus Racing
July 17, 2012
Sportscar ace Tim Mullen has announced his plans to compete in the prestigious Total 24 Hours of Spa next weekend. The Northampton-based Ulsterman will bring his vast experience to the new Lapidus Racing outfit, campaigning for PRO-AM class honors in a McLaren MP4-12C GT3, alongside team owner Klaas Hummel, and co-drivers Phil Quaife and Adam Christodoulou.
The line-up made an appearance in the Blancpain Endurance Series at Paul Ricard earlier this season and, despite having to have retired from the race, Mullen feels the outing showed a lot of potential and pace in the car which they will be looking to unlock more of in Free Practice for the annual round-the-clock event.
Tim Mullen:
"Although Lapidus Racing is a new team, the experience within it is far from new and we have all competed in the Spa 24 Hours previously, so we are fully prepared for the challenges the race will present.
"Paul Ricard was a very useful exercise which has put us in good stead ahead of Spa and, having been working on the development of the GT3 McLaren, I'm really looking forward to racing the car again.
"It's a tough race but a race I know well and I'm confident we have a package capable of a strong result."
